BACKUP IT is a browser-based file organizer and backup builder that splits your WebToolChest files into two clean categories — Site files ready for deployment and Vault files for private records — then exports each as a separate, numbered ZIP you can store safely anywhere.
What It Does
When you work with WebToolChest tools, you end up with two very different kinds of files. Site files are deployment-ready — your HTML, CSS, scripts, images, and ZIP packages that go live on your server or CDN. Vault files are private — setup files, reports, notes, templates, and anything that should never be pushed to a public server. Backup IT reads whatever you load in, automatically sorts files into the right category based on their names, and lets you export each category as its own numbered ZIP. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. Everything happens entirely in your browser.
Site vs. Vault — How Files Are Sorted
Backup IT uses file naming patterns to decide which category a file belongs in. Files that look like internal documents — reports, setup files, vault saves, guides, notes, and anything with keywords like vault, report, save_game, or private in the name — are placed in the Vault category. Everything else goes to Site. You can review the split in the category lists after loading files, and remove any individual file with the × button if the automatic sort got it wrong.
The Controls
Choose Files or ZIPs
The main input. Tap this to select files from your device. You can load individual files — HTML, CSS, JS, images, JSON, or any other type — or load a full ZIP archive. When you load a ZIP, Backup IT extracts its contents and sorts each file inside individually. Load as many files or ZIPs as you need; each new batch is added to the existing lists rather than replacing them.
SITE ZIP Files List
Shows every file sorted into the Site category — your deployment-ready files that belong on a web server. Each file shows with an × button to remove it if it landed in the wrong place. The file count in the header updates in real time so you always know how many files are queued.
VAULT ZIP Files List
Shows every file sorted into the Vault category — private documents, setup files, reports, and anything that shouldn't be deployed publicly. Same layout as the Site list. Remove individual files with × if the auto-sort placed something incorrectly.
Download Site File
Exports everything in the Site list as a compressed ZIP named backupit_SITE_001.zip. The next export becomes backupit_SITE_002.zip, then 003, up to 999 before cycling back to 001. The counter persists in local storage between sessions. The button flashes green to confirm the download triggered successfully.
Download Vault File
Exports everything in the Vault list as backupit_Vault_001.zip with its own independent counter. Keeps your private file archive numbered and dated separately from your deployment ZIPs. Flashes green on success.
Download All
Fires both downloads — Site first, then Vault 700ms later — in a single click. The button shows a building indicator while both ZIPs generate, then flashes green and confirms all done when both have downloaded. Use this when you want a complete paired backup in one step.
Backup It Button
Saves a JSON setup file to your device containing all the files currently loaded in both categories. You can reload this file later using Load Setup File to restore your exact file lists without re-selecting everything from scratch. When the save completes, a confirmation window appears so you know it worked.
Load Setup File
Loads a previously saved Backup IT setup file (the JSON created by the Backup It button). This restores both the Site and Vault file lists exactly as they were when you saved — a fast way to pick up a backup session right where you left off without reloading all your source files.
Numbered File Naming
Every ZIP you download gets an automatically incremented number — 001, 002, 003, up to 999, then back to 001. Site and Vault counters are independent, so your Site exports and Vault exports each run their own sequence. The numbers are stored in your browser's local storage so they persist between sessions and never reset unless you clear your browser data. Every backup gets a unique filename automatically without any manual naming required.
Cygnus Connect

Cygnus Connect — Backup IT's core export and category features are available to all users. Cygnus Connect adds multi-file batch loading in a single click and the full cross-tool WebToolChest suite. Free users can load files individually and export both categories without a key.
Tips
After loading files, always scan both lists before exporting. The auto-sort is accurate for standard WebToolChest file names, but anything with an unusual name might land in the wrong category. A quick review takes seconds and prevents accidentally including private files in a Site ZIP.
Use Download All before every deployment push. You get a clean Site ZIP ready to upload and a Vault ZIP archived at the same moment, keeping your deployment package and private records permanently in sync with matching timestamps.
Save a setup file with Backup It if you're working with a large or complex file set. Loading a ZIP can take a moment on slower devices — the setup file restores both lists instantly next time without re-selecting anything.
Load your full WebToolChest master ZIP into Backup IT to get a clean deployment-ready Site ZIP in seconds. The tool automatically filters out internal reports, setup files, and anything else that shouldn't go live on your server.
The numbered filenames make it easy to match Site and Vault exports taken at the same time. If your Site export is backupit_SITE_007.zip, look for backupit_Vault_007.zip to find the matching private archive from the same session.
